Hello Miss Sally,
We are 2nd graders in Mrs. DeBoer's class. We are sending you Flat Stanley to Visit your School. Could you email us back and have Stanley tell us what Arizonia is like, and what your school is like? We are going to put all our email responses on a wiki website so your students can learn about Michigan as well.
1. What is the weather like there?
2. What do kids do there for fun?
3. What fun places could Stanley visit there? (attractions)
4. What biome or climate type are you.
5. How many kids are in your school? What grades?
Thank You,
The St. Anthony Kids
Our Answer from Mrs. Sally
Preeschool playground, 2009, with a view of the White Tank Mountains
Dear St. Anthony's
. 1. The weather is in the low 70's during the day now and high 40's-low 50's at night but it has gone down to frost level several weeks ago
2. Kids here are not swimming yet unless they have a heated pool. They bike, skateboard and play on park equipment like Michigan children do when the snow is gone.
3. We live in the shadow of the White Tank Mountains that you can see from the playground picture. There are many hiking trails in the White Tanks. There is a world famous Wildlife World Zoo just miles from our school that has white baby tigers, a white alligator, and a new state-of-the-art aquarium. My personal favorite are the giraffes. We also have the world famous Desert Botanical Garden which currently is running the Chihuly glass show in among the cactuses. When I have time I'll send pictures or post them on my Facebook of these places (actually the Chihuly is there and so is some pictures of the White Tanks listed under AZ Sights).
4. We are a desert biome, specifically, the Sonoran Desert, where only saguaro cactuses are found.
I think that about covers all your questions. Have fun researching a lot of other places worldwide.

National Wonders
One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon is an unbelievable spectacle of nature. It is a great, huge slash in the surface of the earth - 217 miles long, 4 to 18 miles wide and a mile deep, with the Colorado River flowing at the bottom.
